A downloadable game

Hi folks.

So the original scope for this game was somewhat broader, but life got in the way and it ended up being a fraction of what I had intended, haha. I'm still very happy with this idea and I wanted to share it. It took me about 5-6 days of on-and-off work to get it to its current state.

Aa a lot of planned content is missing, the task of explaining the game falls to this text. I would have loved to upload a HTML version, but it simply did not play nicely with the shaders that I used and had other optimisation issues, so I opted to only upload the executable.

HOW TO PLAY:

Move: WASD or ARROWS
Interact: E or SPACE
Reset room: SHIFT + R

Your task is to keep the plant happy. You give it sunlight when it's cold, but don't burn it! You give it water when it's thirsty, but don't drown it!! And you also need to give it new soil... but don't bury it. :) each of these mechanics is controled by a terminal with the corresponding symbol above it. You need to keep the terminal gauges in the middle. You do that by approaching them and pressing SPACE or E.  If your gauges go too far left or right, the flower health will suffer and degrade from GREEN to RED. If it reaches a critical level you lose a heart. Lose all hearts, and you lose the game.

As the game progresses, there are twists - the rain can become acidic and you might run into a radioactive batch of earth, both of which harm your plant. A hole in the ozone might pop up and make the sun scorch more than usual, accellerating the heat-up rate.

You also need to charge the little robot, as it WILL run out of battery, which ends the game. Its little bulb tells you the charge level - green is great, yellow is okay, red is critical. It will give you no warning when it is about to run out past the red light. If you lose and you don't get why, that's why. I'm sorry, I didn't manage to implement all of the logic to make it clearer in time.

You charge just like you interact with other terminals - press SPACE or E. You will be locked in place while you charge, but you can just press SPACE or E to stop charging earlier.

STORY:

Some time in the future, Utopia Now, a company specialising in outsourcing everyday activities to mechanical automata, was recording a presentation of their new gardening gizmo - Bot-A.N.Y. The times are tough and atmospheric phenomena and nuclear contamination are staples of the world, and the robot needs to be able to handle all of that with ease! On this very day, a global phenomenon occurs and wipes out all of humanity. The little automaton survived and continues to repeat the presentation cycle, carrying out its duty in perpetuity. Which brings us to the game - what you witness is this neverending cycle of automated horticultural ambition, doomed to fail over and over again. And yet, the little bot keeps on trucking, never a doubt in its mechanical mind that all is as it should be - as long as the plant is happy, it serves its purpose well.
